The International Space Station National Laboratory, in partnership with investors Cook Inlet Region, Inc., E2MC (Earth-to-Mars Capital), and Stellar Ventures, has unveiled the first cohort of startups selected for its Orbital Edge Accelerator, a space commercialization initiative that connects venture-backed innovators with access to the International Space Station.
Each startup will receive:
- Up to $500,000 in investment
- A chance to launch ISS-sponsored R&D
- Mentorship from partners like AWS, BAE Systems, BCG, Greenberg Traurig, and J.P. Morgan
Meet the Selected Startups:
Kall Morris Inc. – Space debris removal systems for in-orbit infrastructure protection
Magma Space – AI-powered, ultra-stable satellite control using magnetic actuation
Melagen Labs – Lightweight, patent-pending radiation shielding materials
Olfera – Lab-on-a-chip biotech exploring the olfactory brain pathway for treating Alzheimer’s and depression
Quantum Qool – Ultrafast laser-based thermal management nanotech
Raptor Dynamix – AI edge-computing systems for real-time decision-making in autonomous systems
The program, delivered by TechConnect, runs for 7 months and culminates in submitted flight project proposals and commercialization roadmaps.
“Accessing space allows entrepreneurs to push the boundaries of science and technology, develop products, and build new businesses,” said Sven Eenmaa, ISS National Lab Chief Economist.
Several of these startups will showcase at ASCEND in Las Vegas (July 22–24) to highlight how microgravity is unlocking frontier solutions for life on Earth and in orbit.
