Reflex Aerospace raises €50M to expand sovereign satellite production amid Europe’s defense push
Reflex Aerospace has secured a €50 million ($58M) Series A round to scale satellite manufacturing across Berlin and Munich as demand for sovereign European space capabilities accelerates.
The round was led by Human Element Ventures, Alpine Space Ventures, Bayern Kapital, HTGF | High-Tech Gründerfonds, and Renovatio Financial Investments, with additional European participation.
Founded to build mission-flexible, payload-centric satellites, Reflex plans to expand production capacity for optical, SAR, space domain awareness, and SIGINT constellations, targeting full deployment capability by 2027.
The funding follows the company’s first satellite launch in January 2025 and aligns with Europe’s strategic shift toward independent space infrastructure. Germany alone plans to invest €35B in space security programs over the next five years, including the proposed European Space Shield.
Reflex CEO Walter Ballheimer emphasized the urgency of reducing reliance on external providers for space-based intelligence, citing the evolving geopolitical landscape and growing ISR requirements across Europe.
