Boom Supersonic Announces 300M Funding and $1.25B Turbine Backlog

Boom Supersonic unveils $1.25B turbine backlog, first Superpower customer, and $300M new funding.

Boom Supersonic announced major milestones this week, including a $1.25B backlog for its new Superpower natural-gas turbine, the reveal of its launch customer Crusoe, and the close of a $300M funding round led by Darsana Capital Partners LP.

The Superpower turbine, derived from the same extreme-temperature engine core being developed for Boom’s Symphony supersonic jet engine, delivers 42 MW of waterless, high-efficiency power aimed at supporting the explosive growth of AI data centers.

Boom says the move creates a dual flywheel: generating revenue and operational data through the energy business while accelerating development and certification of the Overture supersonic airliner. Crusoe has already ordered 29 Superpower turbines to power its AI infrastructure deployments in high-heat, water-constrained environments.

The $300M Series B round fully funds Symphony engine development, while upcoming Superpower revenue contributes to Overture certification.

Boom plans to scale turbine production to 4+ GW annually by 2030. Meanwhile, 95% of Symphony’s core parts are already in manufacturing, with testing expected in 2026. Boom’s Overture order book remains strong at 130 aircraft, with commitments from United Airlines, American Airlines, and Japan Airlines.
