Southern Launch has raised $25 million in Series A funding to expand its spaceport infrastructure and strengthen Australia's sovereign launch and spacecraft re-entry capabilities.

Australian space company Southern Launch has raised $25 million in a Series A funding round to expand its spaceport infrastructure, grow its workforce, and accelerate its launch, re-entry, and range services.

The round was led by Brindabella & Company and includes a $10 million investment from the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC), Australia's sovereign investor in manufacturing capability.

Additional investors in the round include former Macquarie Group CEO and CFO Nicholas Moore, Alex Harvey, and Coupland Asset Management.

The company said the new capital will be used to scale its operations and strengthen Australia's sovereign space capabilities.

Since conducting Australia's first commercial rocket launch in 2020, Southern Launch has developed infrastructure supporting orbital and suborbital launches, hypersonic testing, and spacecraft re-entry missions.

In February 2025, the company facilitated the world's first commercial spacecraft re-entry at the Koonibba Test Range and has since completed three additional re-entry missions.

CEO Lloyd Damp described the funding round as a significant milestone that will help position Australia as a global hub for launch and re-entry services.

Brindabella and Company CEO Anthony C Wilson said Southern Launch is uniquely positioned to support a range of activities, including orbital launches, hypersonic testing, uncrewed aerial systems testing, and emerging applications such as microgravity pharmaceutical research.

NRFC CEO David Gall said the investment addresses a growing global demand for launch and re-entry services while helping establish sovereign space capabilities in Australia.

Senator Tim Ayres, Australia's Minister for Science, Industry and Innovation, said the investment is expected to support the company's expansion plans and create approximately 150 new jobs.
