Archer to Acquire Boeing’s Wisk Aero, SkyGrid and Insitu

Archer Aviation and Boeing have signed definitive agreements under which Archer will acquire Boeing’s Wisk Aero, SkyGrid and Insitu subsidiaries.

The transaction will combine Archer’s capabilities in eVTOL aircraft, UAS and artificial intelligence with the three Boeing businesses’ expertise in autonomous flight and unmanned systems.

The companies said the combined businesses have accumulated nearly two million flight hours across their technologies.

Archer expects these capabilities to strengthen its ZEE artificial intelligence platform and support the development of an end-to-end physical AI platform for commercial aerospace, defense and air traffic management.

As part of the transaction, Boeing will retain access to Wisk’s core autonomous flight technology through a collaboration and technology-sharing agreement. Boeing will also maintain strategic exposure to the combined business through its stake in Archer while focusing its investments on its core aerospace operations.

Archer CEO Adam Goldstein described the deal as a major step toward building a diversified aerospace platform and expanding the company’s revenue base.

Brian Yutko, Boeing’s Vice President of Commercial Airplanes Product Development, said the transaction will allow Wisk, SkyGrid and Insitu to accelerate development while enabling Boeing to continue benefiting from its investments in autonomy and advanced aviation technologies.
