Isar Aerospace has secured €270 million in Series D funding to expand its global operations and increase production of its Spectrum launch vehicle.
The company said the investment will support its efforts to provide launch services for government and commercial customers across Europe, NATO countries, and allied nations.
The round was led by new investors Island Green Capital and Molten Ventures, with participation from existing investors including HV Capital, Lakestar, UVC Partners, and KfW Capital, alongside other European stakeholders.
The funding will be used to scale production at the company's facility in Parsdorf, Germany, which is designed to manufacture up to 40 Spectrum launch vehicles annually. Isar Aerospace said the site incorporates a high degree of automation and vertical integration, with most design, manufacturing, and testing conducted in-house.
The company is also expanding its launch infrastructure beyond its existing site at Andøya Space in Norway.
Isar Aerospace has signed a Letter of Intent with Maritime Launch Services to develop access to Spaceport Nova Scotia in Canada, while discussions regarding additional launch locations are ongoing.
CEO and co-founder Daniel Metzler said the investment will help the company expand access to space for both government and commercial customers.
The company noted that demand has increasingly shifted toward defense applications, which now account for approximately 60% of its business over the past year.
Isar Aerospace's launch manifest extends through 2028 and includes missions for organizations such as the European Space Agency - ESA, the Norwegian Space Agency (NOSA), ElevationSpace Inc., and Astroscale.
The company also recently entered into a cooperation with TKMS as part of the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project Projet de sous-marin de patrouille canadien.
The funding announcement comes ahead of Isar Aerospace's upcoming qualification flight, "Onward and Upward," which is scheduled to launch from Andøya Space during a window opening June 15 and running through June 21. The mission will carry five CubeSats and one experiment supported by ESA's Boost! Programme.
