Airbase raises $5 million to automate and modernize spectrum coordination for satellites, 5G, and defense systems.

New York-based startup Airbase emerged from stealth after raising $5 million in a funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Squadra Ventures and Founders You Should Know.

The company is developing software to modernize how governments coordinate radio frequencies used by satellites, 5G networks, and other wireless systems.

Airbase’s platform focuses on automating legacy, manual processes such as interference analysis, licensing, and database management. By shifting these workflows to software, the company aims to reduce delays and improve real-time access to spectrum across both commercial and government users.

The timing aligns with broader regulatory efforts from the Federal Communications Commission to expand spectrum access for emerging applications.

Earlier this month, Commissioner Brendan Carr proposed new rules to support use cases such as satellite servicing, orbital labs, and advanced telemetry, while identifying additional frequency bands.

CEO Ari Rosner said the main constraint in spectrum management is increasingly procedural rather than physical, pointing to outdated coordination systems as a key bottleneck. Airbase’s software is designed to enable faster, more precise coordination for both regulators and operators.

The company’s dual-use platform supports applications across defense and commercial sectors, including tactical communications, electronic warfare, and spectrum enforcement. Airbase is also working under a U.S. government contract to automate aspects of federal spectrum coordination.
