Planet Opens London Office, Expands UK Presence to Support AI and Earth Observation Growth

Planet has opened a new office in central London, establishing a UK hub for artificial intelligence, analytics partnerships, and government engagement as the company deepens its presence in one of Europe's fastest-growing space markets.

Located near Westminster and Whitehall, the office is intended to strengthen collaboration with UK government agencies. Planet said the new location will also support partnerships across the UK's commercial technology and AI sectors.

The expansion builds on Planet's existing UK operations. The company has long relied on the Goonhilly Earth Station in Cornwall to downlink data from its constellation of more than 200 Earth observation satellites, while its UK team has grown to more than 30 employees spanning engineering, sales, government affairs, customer support, marketing, and executive leadership.

The London office also reinforces Planet's broader European footprint, joining its European headquarters and upcoming satellite manufacturing facility in Berlin, alongside offices in the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Austria.

CEO and co-founder Will Marshall said the UK's strengths in artificial intelligence and downstream space services make it a natural location for continued investment, highlighting opportunities to expand the adoption of Earth observation capabilities across government and commercial sectors.
