Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for a Training Specialist to join the XL AUUV Training Team in Costa Mesa. Reporting to the Training Manager globally and the product lead locally, you will be the specialist who takes complex technical content on our maritime and undersea systems and turns it into structured, engaging, and measurable learning, then delivers that training effectively to internal stakeholders and customers alike. You will use a wide range of delivery media and mediums. This role gives equal weight to the design, development, and delivery of courseware: e-learning modules, interactive simulations, assessments, and blended learning programs that can be deployed and scaled across operator, maintainer, and partner audiences.

You will integrate with subject-matter experts across engineering and operations to extract, structure, and validate content, then - as part of the team - perform the full training development lifecycle from instructional design through to publication, LMS integration, delivery, and sustainment. The training products you produce will be used in operational environments, including at Anduril test sites and customer locations, where accuracy and clarity are not optional. You will need a genuine craft for learning design, a systematic approach to content development, and the technical fluency to work in and around complex systems.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Participate in the end-to-end development of courseware: from needs analysis, learning objective definition, and storyboarding through to authoring, review, and LMS publication.
  • Design and build interactive digital learning products including scenario-based modules, procedural simulations, knowledge checks, and blended learning pathways.
  • Deliver face-to-face and hands-on training for customer and internal stakeholders as required to meet demand - including classroom instruction and practical exercises onsite at customer locations and Anduril test sites.
  • Educate end users from military, government agency, and commercial backgrounds on Anduril's maritime hardware and software offerings.
  • Conduct structured content-extraction sessions with subject-matter experts across software, electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering disciplines.
  • Translate technically complex source material - manuals, engineering documentation, field procedures - into accurate, learner-ready courseware, keeping it current as new features and functionality are released.
  • Apply instructional design principles (e.g. ADDIE, SAM, or equivalent) and adult learning theory to structure learning that is measurable, retention-focused, and suitable for operationally demanding audiences.
  • Assist in maintaining the training content library, including version control, taxonomy, and scheduled review cycles aligned to system changes.
  • Integrate courseware into LMS platforms, manage enrollments, track completions, and extract assessment and performance data for reporting.
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness through assessment data, learner feedback, and field performance indicators - and iterate content accordingly.
  • Collaborate with the Training Manager globally and training lead locally and the broader training team to sequence courseware within larger blended programs and training pipelines.
  • Serve in a customer facing capacity: ensuring customer feedback informs the development of new product features, as well as guide the iteration of training. You will be side by side with Maritime Technical Operations Engineers and/or Field Service Representatives as a representative of Anduril.
  • Ensure all courseware meets Anduril quality standards and, where applicable, conforms to relevant defense training frameworks or accreditation, as well as compliance requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in training development, delivery, or instructional design, e-learning development, or a related learning and development discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, adult learning theory, or equivalent) to produce structured, outcome-aligned courseware.
  • Training background with experience planning, developing, and delivering technical instruction face to face.
  • Experience extracting content from subject-matter experts in technical or engineering domains and translating it into learner-appropriate materials.
  • Comfort explaining complex technical terminology and solutions simply, to both technical and non-technical audiences, across a variety of mediums.
  • Working knowledge of LMS platforms (e.g. Moodle, SCORM-compliant systems, or similar) including content creation, packaging, and learner tracking.
  • Strong written communication skills - able to write clearly and precisely about technical topics for varied audience levels.
  • Experience with or exposure to complex engineered systems - defense, maritime, robotics, aerospace, or similar - is strongly preferred.
  • A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture, with an ownership mentality and a natural bias to assume responsibility.
  • Willing to travel for approximately 10 to 14 days at a time, occasionally longer where required.
  • Ability to perform duties in diverse field and training environments.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Direct experience with Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs), or other complex maritime systems.
  • Experience maintaining marine systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of complex maritime hardware.
  • Prior military or government agency exposure or experience.
  • Familiarity with maritime operations and systems in a training or support context.
  • Experience with authoring tools (e.g. Articulate, Adobe Captivate), graphic design, video production, or motion graphics for learning.
  • Familiarity with xAPI/SCORM standards, accessibility requirements for digital learning, or military training frameworks.
