Spacecoin has successfully routed the world’s first blockchain transaction through orbit, validating the company’s mission to build a decentralized satellite internet that could one day rival Starlink.
Using its CTC-0 nanosatellite, built by EnduroSat and launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rideshare in December 2024, the team transmitted encrypted data from Chile to Portugal, proving that cryptographic integrity can be maintained end-to-end beyond Earth’s atmosphere.
The demo highlights the feasibility of a decentralized, tokenized access network “Starmesh” designed to deliver censorship-resistant, global internet connectivity and blockchain-based financial services on the Creditcoin network.
Unlike centralized broadband providers, Spacecoin envisions a permissionless constellation capable of bypassing terrestrial outages, censorship, and cost barriers.
With three follow-on satellites (CTC-1) launching in 2025, Spacecoin is advancing toward inter-satellite handoffs and larger-scale demonstrations, laying the groundwork for a satellite-driven blockchain ecosystem.
