India's Aero/Space Ecosystem 🇮🇳

India's private aerospace sector has grown dramatically since government reforms in 2020, with over 250 space startups now operating in the country. 


The sector benefits from ₹1,000 crore government VC fund approved in 2024 to support 40 startups over five years, positioning India to expand its space economy from $8.4 billion to $44 billion by 2033. 


These companies represent a mix of established manufacturing giants leveraging decades of engineering expertise and innovative startups pushing the boundaries of space technology, all contributing to India's vision of becoming a global aerospace powerhouse.


Below is a list of some of the most notable Indian Aero/Space companies, both legacy and startups:


Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) - India's largest private aerospace manufacturer, producing aerostructures, defense systems, and operating joint ventures with Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Airbus


Mahindra Aerospace - Manufactures metallic components and assemblies for global aerospace customers including Airbus, Boeing, and GE Aerospace from their Bengaluru facility


Reliance Defence and Aerospace - Operates aerospace R&D centers and manufacturing facilities under Anil Ambani's Reliance Group, focusing on helicopter programs and aerospace components
