HyPrSpace raises €21M Series A to advance hybrid rocket engines and prepare its 2026 suborbital test launch.
French hybrid-propulsion startup HyPrSpace has secured an oversubscribed €21 million Series A to accelerate development of its rocket engines and advance toward a 2026 suborbital test flight of its Baguette One vehicle.
The round was led by Red River West and DeepTech 2030, with support from SPI, OC French Tech Seed (Bpifrance), d’Expansion, and NACO, and follows €35M in France 2030 funding awarded in late 2023.
Founded in 2019, HyPrSpace is developing a hybrid propulsion architecture that pairs solid HDPE fuel with cryogenic LOX, aiming to deliver a simpler, safer, and more cost-efficient alternative for both civil and defense missions.
The company plans to complete full-scale engine qualification, execute the Baguette One suborbital test in 2026, and accelerate work on its larger Orbital Baguette One (OB-1) system.
The funding will also support preparations for eventual serial manufacturing, with HyPrSpace positioning hybrid propulsion as a future standard for European launch capability.
Beyond space transportation, the company continues to expand its defense-related applications, building on earlier contracts with France’s Directorate General of Armament for missile-launch simulation and detection training.
With more than €57M raised to date and growing interest from both commercial and defense customers, HyPrSpace is preparing to scale its production capabilities and move toward orbital launch ambitions beyond 2027.
