Skynopy Raises €15M to Scale Real-Time Satcomms

Skynopy, a Paris-based startup modernizing how satellites communicate with Earth, just secured €15M (~$17.6M) in a seed round backed by Alven, Omnes, Heartcore Capital, Expansion Venture Capital, and Centre National d'Études Spatiales via the SpaceFounders program. The raise closed in under a month and brings total funding to €18M; an impressive feat for a company under 18 months old.

Skynopy is scaling its unique ground station-as-a-service network, which taps into spare antenna capacity across AWS, Kinéis, and other partners. Its tech, likened to a SIM card for satellites, enables pre-integrated access to S-, X-, and Ka-band spectrum, even for satellites already in orbit. Customers only pay for capacity used, not time.

With over 15 sites live and plans to grow beyond 100 antennas by 2027, Skynopy is targeting real-time, high-throughput downlink capabilities (10 Gbps+) for Earth observation, defense, and climate customers. Its upcoming “Akar” network, part of France’s €54B France 2030 initiative, is set to be a game-changer for low-latency, high-bandwidth satcomms.

France is doubling down on space with public-private funding models on the rise and VC activity surging (€1.5B in 2023 alone). Skynopy’s rapid rise is a clear signal: Europe is ready to compete in the data-driven space race.
