The mission, dubbed Mission Aagaman, lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota and deployed its payloads into a 450-kilometer orbit approximately 15 minutes after launch.
The flight marks a major milestone for India's commercial space sector and validates Vikram-1's propulsion, avionics, telemetry, guidance, navigation, and control systems ahead of future commercial missions.
Standing 22 meters tall, Vikram-1 is designed to deliver payloads of up to 350 kilograms to low Earth orbit. The vehicle features three solid-fuel stages and a liquid-fueled orbital adjustment module powered by a 3D-printed engine, technologies the company says are being flown for the first time in India.
The rocket carried multiple technology demonstration and customer payloads from Indian and international organizations.
The orbital mission follows Skyroot's Vikram-S suborbital launch in 2022, which was the first privately developed rocket to reach space from Indian soil.
Founded in 2018, Skyroot became India's first space unicorn earlier this year.
