Open Cosmos has raised €300 million in a funding round led by European investors as the company looks to expand its satellite manufacturing and space-based intelligence and connectivity services.
The round includes Lightrock, ETF Partners - The Environmental Technologies Fund, ICF - Institut Català de Finances, Entrepreneurs First and two international pension funds, alongside Convex Group, National Security Strategic Investment Fund (NSSIF), Phoenix Court and Claret Capital Partners.
The funding will support the expansion of Open Cosmos’ satellite manufacturing operations and three of its core platforms: OpenConstellation, ConnectedCosmos and DataCosmos.
The company currently operates four factories across Europe and says it has the capacity to manufacture up to one satellite per day.
The OpenConstellation Earth observation network is designed to reduce the time required to deliver satellite intelligence from as much as 48 hours to as little as 30 minutes. ConnectedCosmos provides satellite-based connectivity and DataCosmos is focused on turning satellite imagery and sensor data into operational intelligence.
Founder and CEO Rafel Jorda Siquier said the investment will allow Open Cosmos to scale manufacturing in response to growing orders while bringing satellite data, connectivity and AI services together into a more integrated platform.
Lightrock Partner Ashish (Ash) Puri said the company’s manufacturing capabilities and mission record position it for further growth, while ETF Partners Managing Partner Patrick Sheehan highlighted Open Cosmos’ commercial progress and potential to become a major European infrastructure company.
Phoenix Court co-founder and chair Saul Klein similarly pointed to the company’s decade of development and ability to manufacture satellites at scale.
