Balerion Space Ventures has oversubscribed its second venture capital fund, raising $200 million to invest in companies developing infrastructure across space, defense, advanced energy and other critical technology sectors.

Fund II has invested in 15 companies spanning space systems, national security, autonomy, advanced energy and capital infrastructure.

Its portfolio includes Valar Atomics, Vast, Commonwealth Fusion Systems, Relativity Space and Erebor, building on the firm's earlier investments in companies such as SpaceX, Anduril Industries, Impulse Space and Armada AI.

Balerion's investment strategy focuses on companies developing technologies and infrastructure intended to support future industrial capabilities and national security needs.

Co-founder and General Partner Phil S. said the firm was established around the view that investments in these foundational technologies will play an increasingly important role in the economy and security landscape.

The firm has also appointed A.C. Charania, former NASA Chief Technologist, as Managing Director, where he will focus on global operations.
